Dr. Angel Piccio Villasor, Jr.
October 9, 1941 - September 25, 1995

Dr. Angel P. Villasor, Jr. was a nuclear engineer who held six degrees from major universities in the Philippines and the United States. But he was more! He was a loving husband and a kind and gentle person who suffered with multiple illnesses for almost seven years before he died. If he could, he would tell us now that he fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept his faith in God.

My life with my Angel is another way of saying that the degree of my loss is in direct proportion to the depth of our love. If we hadn't given ourselves heart, body, and soul to each other I wouldn't be suffering nearly so much. If we hadn't loved so thoroughly, so selflessly, I wouldn't feel so lost. If we hadn't been so compatible, I wouldn't feel so estranged. If we hadn't so completely invested ourselves in the vision of our shared future, tomorrow wouldn't seem so bleak.

At times our grief makes us wish we hadn't loved so intensely. Perhaps the pain would be easier to bear. But deep down we know better. And we wouldn't take back an ounce of our love. In the words of Mother Teresa: I have learned to "love until it hurts."

Angel was my protector: the one I could depend on to take care of me, to keep me safe and warm. He was my comforter: the one I could turn to when I needed reassurance, when I needed to hear the words, "Honey, it will be all right." He was my ally: the one person in the world I could count on as my loyal partner with whom to face the adversities of life.

It's no wonder we feel so vulnerable, at times insecure and painfully alone. And, it's no wonder we question if we will ever, ever feel quite so blessed again.

Now that he's gone, I realize gratefully: I had so much!
